Matt Russell and the death of the American Dream

First I would like to point out that Elan is a crippled asshole for suggesting this and I hope everything turns into stairs overnight. That being said, I would like to get into the subject at hand. First, Matt Russell. What can I say? The dude has his style and personality, which I hate (the feeling is mutual, I'm sure.) But he's an alright guy, if not a pre-judging, Clark-listening-to son of a bitch.

Now, onto the American Dream. First, what is the American Dream? Is it the idea that a man is free to do whatever he chooses, and accept responsibility for his failures and success? Then surely that dream is dead, as there isn't a goddamn person out there who wouldn't sue McDonalds for spilling hot coffee on their own damn lap, if they thought they could win. That takes care of the responsibility aspect. But that's only half of it. Can any man in this country do as he chooses? Increasingly, the answer is no. Be it spanking your snotty brat or smoking in a bar, the right to do anything is rapidly shrinking. Just today I read that some schmuck legislator is seeking to ban people from crossing the street while wearing headphones because some dumbass college kid (who else?) got hit by a bus while crossing the street and wearing headphones. I'm telling you, it's a sad state of affairs when a group of people votes to restrict itself, but that's exactly what we're seeing here and now. I really want to shoot every person I see at this point.
